‘u can't do fuckin anything!!!!!’, crayon and spray-paint on canvas
Isolation, through the lens of a sock ski-mask-clad, antisocial character with a raging god complex, is explored in my work through a range of mediums including video, audio, zine making and crayon. This character insensitively offers unhelpful advice for how to exist in solitude, smugly basking in the newfound necessity of their usual touch-repulsion and introversion. The intensity of Ryan Trecartin’s film ‘I-Be Area’ has had a huge influence on the development of my video work, from the ‘more is more’ chaotic editing style to the faux-profound script which carries over into my zine. This character evolved from the mask and organically developed through the experience of enforced isolation.
